To Village Residents:
The road project plans for the spring of 2017 include the crushing and reshaping of Lake Street, from Ritchie Avenue to Fifth Street. This project will be paid for with a $250,000 grant from the State of Michigan and a $130,000 loan from the State Infrastructure Bank. The loan will be paid back over a period of ten years using Public Act 51 revenue from the State of Michigan. The project is scheduled to begin after the July 4th Celebration and should be completed in early August.
On Tuesday, November 8, 2016, on the General Election Ballot Proposal, voters approved a Street Improvement Bond, beginning in June of 2018. The Street Bond will be used to pave Lake Street from Fifth Street to Third Street (Northland Drive). This project will include new sidewalks, street lights, and a storm drain system. The bond millage of 3.8035 mills ($3.8035 for each $1,000 of taxable value = $775,000) will generate funds, in conjunction with a $360,000 grant from the Grand Valley Metro Council, in order to complete the total project. The timetable for this project has yet to be scheduled, but businesses and residents will be notified when the scheduling is completed.
Village residents are currently paying 5.00 mills for the road paving project which was completed in 2003. Those 5.00 mills will be paid off in June of 2018.
